In European history there have been two great empires.
The first was the Roman Empire which was principally
a military empire held together by martial power. The
Roman’s most obvious legacies were our alphabet
and the Romance languages, all off which can trace their
roots to Latin, the language of the military conquerors
and dictators.
800 years after the passing of the Romans a second
great empire was established by the Vikings. Although
the Vikings had a bloodthirsty reputation their empire
was essentially a peaceful trading commercial empire.
At its peak the Viking Empire spread from North America
(they reached there 500 years ahead of Columbus), across
all of Northern and Eastern Europe to the Black Sea.
The Vikings were great traders and businesspeople that
co-existed with local cultures, seldom trying to convert
them to their own.
Odin Consulting is named after one of the Vikings’
principal Gods, Odin. Odin was the Vikings’ God
of Wisdom. He was vital on the battlefield and was also
considered to be their God of Commerce, roughly the
equivalent of the more primitive earlier Roman God Mercury.
